  14. is a file finder which with numerous options, including searching inside
  15. archive files. Complete TP source code and explanation of archive structures
  16. is included. (Note: Author is French. See AF.ENG for English documentation.)

  21. is a set of 3 disk-related utilities: a disk copier, a disk formatter, and a
  22. disk sector viewer. All three are very small, menu driven and easy to use.

  27. tells how to use ANSI driver codes to colorize your DOS prompt.

  32. captures DOS text screens to disk files. Unlike other screen capture
  33. utilities, this is not a TSR. You invoke it from the DOS command line and it
  34. captures whatever text is on the screen at the time. Since it does not have to
  35. be loaded in advance, it is ideal for grabbing text screens in DOS on the spur
  36. of the moment (assuming that you keep CrtDump in a PATH directory on your HD).

  41. searches for files by their date stamp: the current date, before or after a
  42. specified date. (Also see PsL disk #2604.)

  47. tells how to safely install DoubleSpace or Smartdrive and other cache and disk
  48. compression programs.

  50. EasyFold 1.2  [EF12]

  53. is a combination text editor and outliner. As you type, you can press a key
  54. to "fold" a section of text up so that only the first line shows. Menu
  55. options as well as folding/unfolding can be executed quickly with a mouse
  56. or keyboard.

  58. Professional features of the editor include macros (for keyboard and
  59. mouse), undo's, edit up to 250 files at once, splitscreen editing,
  60. search-and-replace, and SVGA support.
  61.  
  62. Programmers can "fold" subroutines and compile the source without unfolding
  63. them. Other programming features include bracket matching and stepping
  64. through errors after a compile.

  74. is a 5k TSR phone book. Entries include space for name, title, address, two
  75. phone numbers and notes. Prints labels, rolodex cards, post cards and mail

  82.    Directory Utilities

  84. checks for EXE and COM files of the same name. When upgrading software
  85. which has changed from a COM to EXE format, it is easy to overlook that
  86. fact. Since DOS will always run the COM file first, the newer EXE file
  87. would never be run. When we tested it in our UTIL directory, we found two
  88. programs where this situation existed. We deleted the COM files so that we
  89. could start using the newer EXEs.

  94. copies diskette images to hard disk where they can be stored and copied to
  95. floppies in any quantity.

  100. is a TSR which watches the screen for any of three different
  101. text strings to appear, at which point it can pass specified keystrokes to the underlying application, display a text windows, or
  102. sound an alert signal.

  104. KwikLabl 3.3/A [KWKLBL]
  105.    Epson and Compatibles
  106.    John F. Cram; $10
  107. prints small return address labels for the upper left corner of the
  108. envelope. It creates regular labels with a choice of fonts for special
  109. effects. It prints two side-by-side on a one inch by three and a half inch
  110. label with a variety of borders. It will print addresses or return
  111. addresses directly on envelopes.

  116. displays total disk space, space in use, and available space for up to six
  117. Netware or DOS drives/volumes on one screen. Options included showing
  118. floppies and specifying a drive letter to start with.

  120. NoShell 1.5 [NOSH15]

  123. is a TSR which requires the user to enter a password before being allowed
  124. to shell to DOS from within any other program. This could allow you to set
  125. up a menu system which would run applications without any chance of users
  126. being able to get unauthorized access to the hard disk outside of their
  127. application.

  132. protects against unauthorized access to your computer. When installed
  133. nobody can start it without entering a password. Even if your computer is
  134. started with a bootable floppy, the C: drive remains inaccessible.

  139. reformats text files to change the length of or remove word
  140. wrapped lines for use by word processors, DTP programs, or file
  141. printing programs which do their own word wrapping.

  146. deletes files with prompting before deleting each file matching the
  147. specified file mask. A nice feature is the ability to shell to DOS (to look
  148. at a file, or whatever) and then to continue with the deletion.

  159. code is included.

  161. [4LCtrl] 1.0 (Ronald E. Raikes; $0) is a control program for the HPLJ 4L
  162. printer. It can also print a page showing the internal fonts.

  164. Appointment Minder 1.21 [APPT12] (James Corpening; $10) is an appointment
  165. reminder program that goes in your AUTOEXEC.BAT file.

  167. BDay 1.0 [BDAY10] (Bob Webb; $10) reminds you of upcoming birthdays.

  169. The Electronic Calendar 1.0 [CALEND] (Alex Fernandez; $20) is an
  170. appointment reminder that goes in your AUTOEXEC.BAT file.

  172. [DSAVAN] (Dennis Darland) is a character editor for Crusaders of the Dark
  173. Savant. You can also print characters to a text file. C++ source included.

  181. your music collection.

  184. collection.

  186. Full Screen Task Switcher 2.1 [FSTS21] (Kim E. Thomsen; $0) lets you switch
  187. among full-screen sessions (OS/2 or DOS).

  189. [Glover] is a MOD file of an English folk tune.
  190.  
  191. Mother Goose Game [GOOSE1] (Rick Sullivan; $8) is a game in which the child
  192. must complete missing words in a Mother Goose rhyme.

  194. [Keypad] (Nathan Alan King; $8) drills you on touch typing on the numeric
  195. keypad.

  197. Namer 2.0 [NAMERP] (Dave Lartigue and Kurt Schwind; $0) generates random
  198. names for use on BBS's which support aliases.

  200. [Player] 1.1 (Gary S. Tessler; $19) plays WAV and VOC files on a Sound
  201. Blaster compatible card. Requires SB's CT-VOICE.DRV.

  206. [RHSLife] (Richard H. Smith; $0) is an implementation of the wellknown
  207. "Game of Life". Requires 1MB RAM, VGA.
  208.  
  209. [SongBase] 1.0 (Rite Item; $30) tracks song lists for performing musicians
  210. for single or multiple gigs. It stores title, artist, writer, album, year,
  211. first words, temo, style, and more.
  212.  
  213. String Quartet 1.44 [STRNQRT] (Celista Software; $8) is a tuning aid for
  214. the violin, viola, cello and bass.
  215.  
  216. [Tune4day] 1.0a (Gary S. Tessler; $19) plays a different sound file each
  217. time it is run. It is intended primarily for use in AUTOEXEC.BAT. It can
  218. also be used to invoke other types of programs.

  224. fax machine/board without CAS or any other interface.

  226. (CM-04) [CapStat] 1.1 sets ERRORLEVEL to indicate whether or not a local
  227. printer is being captured to the network.
  228.  
  229. (GA-03) [TRAP] 2.0 is an unusual and interesting game in which you try to
  230. move doors to trap the monsters in the least amount of time.
  231.  
  232. (GA-3A: #3517) DukeEdit 1.6 [DUKEED] is an easy way of finding your way
  233. through the dangerous world of Duke Nukum.

  235. (GA-04) Hearts 6.6 [HRT66] (ASP) is a Hearts game for DOS.

  237. (GR-01) Rainbow-Land 4.01 [RAINBO] is a 16-color, 320x200 EGA/VGA graphics
  238. program for creating interactive animated art.

  243. (MU-03) Guitar Tuner 1.44 [GUITUNE] is a six-string-guitar tuner.

  245. (P1-02) [2Col] 4.9 prints files in two columns. Up to eight pages can be
  246. printed on a single page.
  247.  
  248. (P2-01) EZ Epson 1.08 [EZEPSON] allows access to some of your printer's
  249. capabilities that are not available through use of the front panel
  250. switches.

  252. (P2-02) [JetCol] 2.7 prints multiple pages on 1 sheet of paper using small
  253. custom fonts on a LaserJet compatible printer.

  255. (P2-02) [Xprt] 4.6 is an excellent file printing and control utility for HP
  256. LaserJet compatible printers.

  261. (U1-01) [ISEE9] 5.2 - archive shell that supports PKZIP, ARC, ARJ and more.

  263. (U1-01) Screen Wizard 4.5b [SW45B] is a batch file utility with impressive
  264. windowing, sounds, and more.
  265.  
  266. (U1-03) BatMouse [BATMOUS] lets you add mouse support to your batch files.
  267. NEW: allows its use from within Windows.
  268.  
  269. (U1-03) [FDATE] 8.2a lets you do date and time arithmetic in batch files.
  270. New - new math functions added and bugs were corrected.
  271.  
  272. (U1-09) Protect! EXE/COM 3.0 [PROTEXE] protects EXE/COM files by encrypting
  273. them. NEW: allows customizable CRC error messages.

  275. (U1-10) PathTool 2.2 [PATHTL] makes it easy to modify the path command.
  276. NEW: compares directories with PATH and sets the ERRORLEVEL. More options
  277. were added.

  279. (U1-QL) [GLEDIT] 2.5 lets you globally search and replace a string of
  280. characters in all selected files a directory.

  282. (WU-03) [Critic] 2.3 is a writing analysis program to which we at PsL have
  283. given top marks.

  288. (U1-QL) Disk Copy Fast. 4.2 [DCF] is a one-pass disk duplicating utility.

  290. (U2-01) PCClock 3.0 [PCK300] ($20) (ASP) is a digital alarm clock that
  291. displays the date and time in big characters and will optionally set your
  292. system's time and date automatically by calling the National Institute of
  293. Standards and Technology.

  295. (U2-02) Icon Shell 1.8 [ICONSHL] - DOS shell with Windows-like GUI.

  297. (U2-02) MenuMedia 1.3 [MM10] is a quick & easy DOS menu application.

  299. (U2-04) [4FILES] 3.01 ASP ($30) is a multi-purpose file management tool.
  300. New: can now handle 799 records, marked files may now be copied, moved,
  301. renamed, and archived (to ZIP, ARJ and LHA formats, with file descriptions
  302. included), special keyboard configuration for laptops, along with a host of
  303. new commands.

  305. (U2-07) [LQVGA] 1.78 is an 18K TSR that allows you to print any VGA or Super
  306. VGA screen to an Epson, Canon Bubble Jet, IBM Graphics printer or
  307. compatible printer.
